1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Recovery Agent ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. About Recovery Agent

Recovery Agent is a recovery support companion app that provides sobriety tracking, wellness tools, crisis resources, and an AI companion for supportive conversations. The App is designed to complement your recovery journey and is not a replacement for professional treatment, counseling, or medical care.

3. Health & Wellness Disclaimer

• The App does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
• The App is not a substitute for professional counseling, therapy, or addiction treatment programs
• The Recovery Agent is not a licensed therapist, counselor, psychologist, or medical professional
• Recovery milestones and wellness tracking features are personal tools and do not constitute medical monitoring
• Always consult qualified healthcare providers for medical decisions and treatment plans
• Crisis resources provided in the App (hotline numbers, coping strategies) are for informational purposes and should not replace direct contact with emergency services when needed

4. AI-Generated Content Disclosure

Recovery Agent uses artificial intelligence (AI) to power its chat companion feature. You should be aware that:

• All chat responses are generated by AI technology (OpenAI's language models) and are not written by humans
• AI responses may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your specific situation
• AI-generated content should not be treated as professional advice of any kind (medical, legal, psychological, or otherwise)
• The AI companion is designed to offer general support and encouragement, not clinical guidance
• Voice input transcription and text-to-speech features also use AI processing

We continuously work to improve the quality and safety of AI responses, but no AI system is perfect. Use your own judgment when considering any information provided through the chat feature.

5. Subscription Terms

Recovery Agent offers both a free tier and a paid subscription ("Recovery Agent Plus").

Free Tier

• Sobriety tracking, wellness tools, and crisis resources
• Up to 5 Recovery Agent conversations per day

Recovery Agent Plus

• Monthly subscription: $6.99 USD per month
• Annual subscription: $49.99 USD per year
• Includes unlimited AI conversations, voice input, spoken responses, and the full companion experience

Auto-Renewal

• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
• Your Apple ID or Google Play account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
• The renewal price will be the same as the original subscription price unless we notify you of a price change

Cancellation

• You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple App Store or Google Play Store account settings
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• No refunds are provided for partial billing periods
• Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies
• Your data remains on your device regardless of subscription status

6. Privacy & Data

Your privacy is fundamental to Recovery Agent. Personal data such as sobriety dates, mood entries, wellness tracking, and conversation history is stored locally on your device. When you use the Recovery Agent, your messages are sent to our server for processing and response generation, but they are not stored or linked to any identity. Voice recordings are similarly processed in real-time and immediately discarded. For complete details, please see our Privacy Policy.

7. User Responsibilities

When using Recovery Agent, you agree to:

• Use the App in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations
• Not use the App as a substitute for professional medical or mental health treatment
• Seek immediate professional help if you experience a medical or mental health emergency
• Not attempt to reverse-engineer, modify, or distribute the App or its content
• Not use the Recovery Agent to generate harmful, illegal, or abusive content
• Understand that you use the App at your own risk

8. Age Requirement

Recovery Agent is intended for users aged 13 and older. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you should review these terms with a parent or guardian.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of Recovery Agent (including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, and software) are the property of Recovery Agent and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without prior written consent.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

• Recovery Agent is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied
• We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components
• We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App
• We are not responsible for any decisions you make based on information provided by the Recovery Agent or any other part of the App
• Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the preceding 12 months

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Recovery Agent, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these terms.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or restrict your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms of Use or are using the App in a manner that could harm other users or the service. Upon termination:

• Your right to use the App ceases immediately
• Data stored on your device remains under your control (we have no ability to access or delete it)
• Active subscriptions may be canceled; you should manage cancellation through your App Store or Google Play account
• Sections relating to limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law survive termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device.

13. Service Availability

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the App. The Recovery Agent requires an internet connection and may be subject to service interruptions.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

15. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
